Candidate Bus

Today, my wife Kay and I traveled to Lansing and filed the appropriate paperwork to be put on the ballot for the position of Representative for the 91st District in Michigan. We made this decision jointly and not without some angst. I believe we are going into this with our eyes wide open and understanding the sacrifices and work this will require of us for the next year plus. I may have my name on the ballet but this is a joint operation and I could not hope to accomplish this without the help and encouragement of my wife. She is my treasurer, advisor, volunteer coordinator, event scheduler and any other hat I can fit on her head. We almost submitted to run 2 years ago but declined due to where we were with our family….family and faith come first and a political office will never trump our priority list. So there we are. We are now working through the requirements of the state (mainly MERTS accounting software) and the material needed to have a credible campaign. This includes business cards, donor envelopes and a web site to name a few items. None of them are overwhelming but the sum total can be a lot to chew at one time. So we are on the candidate bus and you’re welcome to come along for the ride….it is sure to be an interesting trip.
